The old Maximiliaans brewpub in Amsterdam has been bought by the Beiaard group of bars and is now the Bekeerde Zuster café (www.beiaardgroep.nl). The hope is to re-commence brewing next year. However, the Guide will believe it when it sees it.

Lindeboom brewery has be granted the Royal Charter for brewing beers for the Royal Family. This was for many years the prerogative of the Brand brewery, until this attached itself to the Heineken empire. Lindeboom has been polishing its beers for some while, with a new Gouverneur Blond impressing some, and Venloosch Alt getting more character than in the days when it was a Leeuw beer.
