Beer in Belgium is more of an experience than it is a beverage. It's the fabulous beer in front of you, the food it's served with and the glass it's in - and every beer has its glass. Pubs with 300 beers have 300 different glasses. Even something as pedestrian as pouring is an art and is executed with artistry and care.
Nowadays, thanks to the dedicated importers who bring this beer to our shores, many of these glasses can be found here. Why use an authentic glass? Glass shape can greatly affect aromatic presentation, head formation, even how well carbonation will be sustained. The ideal in these areas varies from beer to beer thus so do the glasses. Besides, you have to drink out of something, why not the same glass a Belgian bartender would use? They generally range from $4-$6 per glass, they are usually beautiful and many can be purchased through the internet.

Glassware Auctions on E-Bay! Wow, what a collectors opportunity! I picked up a Chimay goblet from 1930 for $20.50! In the earlier part of the century glassware was labeled with brewery names via enamel. The letters are raised and rounded and hard as a rock - absolutely beautiful. Take a look at what's happening - it's always changing. Try it every few days, you'll probably see new stuff every time.
