There are various sources of reference out there that attempt to categorize Belgian beer styles. This is very hard to do because of the seemingly limitless diversity of the Belgian beer landscape. That being the case it stands to reason there would be some disagreement out there in defining styles. This section no longer refers to Flanders red ale and oud bruin as separate categories because I have found so much evidence they are really the same style. I should point out this is not the popular viewpoint. It is, however an educated one. Please keep in mind the creativity that makes this beer so great also requires a degree of open-mindedness when defining some specific beers.
